Working together for a food environment where the healthy choice is the easy choice.
Uganda Healthy Food Coalition is a national civil society advocacy coalition committed to advancing evidence-informed food policies that protect public health and promote healthier food environments in Uganda.
The Coalition brings together consumer organisations, health advocates, researchers and development partners around a shared goal: making it easier for every Ugandan to see what is in the food they buy and to choose well.
The Coalition works to strengthen legal and regulatory frameworks, including the adoption of mandatory Front-of-Package Warning Labelling, to help reduce the burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases.
The Coalition works across policy, evidence and public education. Our work areas describe the specific changes we are pushing for, and each one is developed with the organisations and institutions that have to make it real.
The Coalition's flagship work area is Front-of-Package Warning Labelling (FoPWL), alongside restrictions on marketing unhealthy food to children and healthier public food procurement.
Front-of-Package Warning Labelling has not yet been adopted in Uganda. The Coalition is advocating for it, using the thresholds of the Uganda Nutrient Profile Model that the country has already approved.
The Coalition is made up of member organisations, collaborating institutions and development partners. The full directory is published on the Coalition Members page, where each organisation's role is stated clearly.
