Uniting voices. One coalition. One goal: a healthier food future for Uganda.
The Uganda National Food Policy Coalition (UNFPC) is a national civil society advocacy network committed to advancing evidence-informed food policies that protect public health and promote healthier food environments in Uganda.
The Coalition works to strengthen legal and regulatory frameworks, including the adoption of mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labels (FoPWL), to help reduce the burden of diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The Coalition has played a key role in advocating for the development and approval of the Uganda Nutrient Profile Model (NPM) and is now leading efforts to advance mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labels as a critical measure for improving consumer information and supporting healthier dietary choices.

The Coalition brings together leading organisations:
The Coalition collaborates closely with key government institutions and academic and research institutions:
Working with a government institution is not an endorsement of the Coalition's positions, and the Coalition's positions are not government policy. Mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labelling has not been adopted in Uganda. It is what the Coalition is advocating for.
UNFPC also works with development partners to translate scientific evidence into effective policy action:
Civil society organisations, researchers and development partners work together to keep food policy on the national agenda, turning evidence on Uganda's food environment into regulatory action.
The Coalition's focus is evidence-informed policy: the Uganda Nutrient Profile Model, mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labelling, restrictions on marketing unhealthy food to children and healthier public food procurement.
